Job summary

Caterpillar's Electric Power Division seeks a Strategy Manager to lead the development and facilitation of commercial and product strategies for energy technologies and solutions, to help customers manage the energy transition.

You will collaborate with a global team of engineers and operations professionals to shape strategies using industry, competitive, technology, and customer insights, and to drive partnerships, co-development, and investments with external partners including VC and M&A

Qualifications

• Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Extensive experience and knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
• Effective Communications: Extensive experience and understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
• Strategic Thinking: Working knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
• Consulting Process & Tools: Extensive experience and knowledge of consulting process; ability to engage in planning sales, conducting research and analysis, finding solutions and preparing recommendations.
• MBA desired

Responsibilities

• Lead efforts to analyze industry and competitive intelligence around certain themes or technology areas
• Create strategic frameworks for how EPD teams should position product and solutions development to create customer value
• Work with teams to implement product and commercial strategies
• Identify and raise awareness of potential strategic alliances and partnerships
• Identify potential investment opportunities that create strategic value
• Work with legal to execute and manage commercial agreements with partners such as NDAs and co-development agreements
• Work with corporate teams to execute and manage Venture Capital investments and M&A opportunities
