Job summary

Mac Papers + Packaging is seeking a Buying Group Manager to lead a team of buyers and optimize inventory purchasing. You will work with the Director of Supply Chain Analytics to maintain stock levels for critical items while balancing availability with carrying costs.

You will drive cost-saving initiatives, negotiate with vendors, manage procurement contracts, and ensure compliance across purchasing activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain management or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in procurement or supply chain management with increasing responsibility.
• Minimum 2+ years supervising buyers or purchasing staff.
• Experience in wholesale distribution; paper, packaging, or janitorial/sanitation products a plus.
• CSCP or CPSM certification is a plus.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Pivot tables, VLookup, etc.).
• Experience with ERP and inventory replenishment systems (Infor, SAP, Epicor, or similar).
• Must be able to read and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily buying function and PO scheduling to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Lead a purchasing team with direction, feedback, and development opportunities.
• Negotiate lead times, quantities, pricing, and terms with key vendors; monitor performance metrics.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to optimize replenishment and align strategies with business goals.
• Drive cost-saving initiatives and control procurement expenses across operations.
• Manage procurement contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.
• Maintain regulatory compliance across purchasing and inventory management activities.
