Job summary

The City of Fayetteville is seeking a Transit Planner to perform complex technical analysis in support of Transit Department operations, to include the development and implementation of route schedules and service plans, analyzing data involving Transit Operator work assignments, and development and maintenance of GIS, APC and AVL databases and programs.

Qualifications

• Four years increasingly responsible experience in public administration, planning or related field.
• Equivalent to an Associate’s degree with major coursework in geography, planning, marketing or related field.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and perform research and analysis leading to the development of new and improved transit routes, including routing patterns and ridership trends.
• Assist in the development of short- and long-range plans for fixed route service.
• Analyze demographic data and future projections to determine amenity improvements and maintain bus stop inventories.
• Generate maps and analyze spatial data using transit planning software and forecast travel patterns.
• Work with the Title VI Coordinator on public outreach and prepare materials for service changes and advertising.
• Participate in public meetings to explain planning proposals and gather feedback.
• Record daily mileage and maintain logs for monthly reporting to NTD and reconciliation with maintenance software.
• Maintain route change databases and ensure maps/schedules are updated before service changes.
• Analyze scheduled vs actual operator payroll hours to identify efficiency improvements.
• Administer surveys to measure service quality and oversee APC validation.

Education
