Job summary

Stanley Martin Homes is seeking a General Manager to guide the division's daily operations and align long-range goals with performance across sales, construction, land, and purchasing. The GM will work with department leaders to set priorities, address operational challenges, and improve customer experience.

The role requires strong business instincts, experience leading leaders, and the ability to interpret financials to influence budgeting and strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required (business, finance, construction or related field)
• MBA preferred, but not required
• Minimum 8 years homebuilding experience required
• Experience in at least 2 different areas of the business (e.g., sales and production or purchasing and finance)
• Experience in a “leader of leaders” role
• Ability to read and interpret financial statements, manage budgets and understand financial implications of operational decisions

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the division and monitor performance
• Review sales, construction, land and purchasing activity and adjust support or priorities
• Lead and coach department leaders; align on priorities with the business plan
• Monitor market trends and evaluate competitive activity affecting land strategy
• Strengthen the division's team by hiring decisions and managing external relationships
