Job summary

Stanley Martin Homes is seeking a General Manager to lead the division's day-to-day operations while driving long-term strategy and performance. You will coordinate sales, construction, land, and purchasing efforts, align department priorities, and drive superior homebuyer experiences.

The role requires strong leadership of leaders, deep financial acumen, and a track record in homebuilding. You will mentor teams, manage budgets, and collaborate with trade partners to execute the business plan

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business/finance/construction or related field
• MBA preferred but not required
• Minimum 8 years homebuilding experience
• Experience in at least two areas of the business (sales and production OR purchasing and finance)
• Experience in a leadership of leaders role
• Ability to read and interpret financial statements, manage budgets, and understand financial implications of operational decisions

Responsibilities

• Guide daily operations of the division and monitor performance against long-range goals
• Review sales, construction, land, and purchasing activity to identify needs and adjustments
• Meet with department leaders to align on priorities and address challenges
• Monitor local market trends and competitive activity to inform land strategy and community planning
• Coach leaders, support hiring decisions, and maintain strong external partnerships
• Lead strategic planning sessions, financial reviews, and cross-functional collaboration to improve execution
