Job summary

Houston Recovery Center is seeking a dedicated Development Director to lead fundraising, donor stewardship, grant writing, and strategic partnerships that advance the agency's mission in the Houston area.

You will collaborate with the CEO and program teams to diversify revenue, raise at least $500,000 annually, manage donor communications, and oversee campaigns, events, and reporting to ensure financial sustainability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, business, marketing, communications, public administration, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of nonprofit development or fundraising experience, including donor cultivation, grant writing, and relationship building.
• Experience with CRM systems, donor records, fundraising campaigns, communications platforms, and deadlines.
• Excellent writing, presentation, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently and across teams.
• Experience in behavioral health, healthcare, recovery services, or community-based nonprofits preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute annual fundraising plan, budget, calendar, and donor cultivation strategy.
• Identify, solicit, and steward prospective and existing donors; coordinate acknowledgments, updates, events.
• Partner with CEO on major gifts; increase unrestricted support, donor retention, and fundraising efficiency.
• Research opportunities for grants; write proposals, renewals, budgets, and funder reports.
• Cultivate partnerships with corporations, healthcare systems, universities, and foundations.
• Oversee donor communications, materials, social media direction, and annual impact report.
• Maintain the donor CRM, gift records, acknowledgments, and reconcile donations with accounting.
