Job summary

Harvard University seeks an innovative fundraising leader to oversee University Development within AA&D, including corporate and foundation relations, international philanthropy, and principal gifts. Reporting to the AVP, this Senior Executive Director will guide a proactive strategy, donor relationship management, and collaboration across schools and central priorities.

The role requires 15+ years in fundraising and senior management, with seven- to eight-figure gift experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 15 years of fundraising and management experience, preferably in higher education.
• Strong fundraising experience with demonstrated ability to manage relationships with donors and solicit seven- and eight-figure gifts.
• Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends and travel as necessary for donor and colleague meetings and events.
• You will be expected to participate in campus events and retreats in Cambridge, MA.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a comprehensive central University fundraising unit and evaluate program impact.
• Provide leadership, supervision, and talent management for direct reports.
• Foster boldness, creativity, and accountability in fundraising strategy and portfolio management.
• Manage a limited portfolio of principal and major gift prospects and cultivate high-level gifts.
• Identify opportunities to leverage systems and technology across UDAS in service to fundraising priorities.
• Coordinate donor recognition, stewardship messaging, and cross-unit collaboration for Harvard priorities.
