Job summary

vcfo is seeking a Consulting Controller to lead the financial operations for client engagements across Houston, Austin, and Denver. You will generate timely monthly statements, manage the full accounting cycle, and develop forecasts while guiding junior staff and collaborating with client leadership.

Ideal candidates have a BBA in Accounting or Finance, 7+ years’ leadership, and experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Intacct. MBA or CPA a plus; entrepreneurial mindset encouraged.

Qualifications

• BBA in Accounting or Finance required; MBA or CPA a plus.
• 7+ years of progressive leadership experience.
• Ability to lead and effectively manage Assistant Controllers and junior level accounting professionals.
• Leadership in the development of financial policies and procedures.
• Experience with accounting software packages including QuickBooks, NetSuite, Intacct, or other mid-market packages.
• Entrepreneurial spirit to expand business networks and find new client work.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage staff.

Responsibilities

• Work with vcfo team members and partner with leadership teams at client companies in Houston, Austin, or Denver.
• Engage with client teams across varied industries.
• Generate timely and accurate monthly financial statements.
• Manage the full accounting cycle.
• Create and maintain corporate forecasts.
• Mentor and supervise accounting staff and foster teamwork.
• Support Board package preparation.
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
• Provide ERP guidance and support for system improvements.
