Job summary

Human Rights Watch, Inc. seeks a Director of FP&A and Grant Management to lead strategic financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and grant management.

The role partners with the CFO and senior leaders to deliver accurate financial insights, ensure donor reporting, and support organizational sustainability. The position oversees budgeting, forecasting, reporting, revenue projections, and a team of seven, with preference for New York or Washington DC bases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years in financial and budgeting activities; 5+ years in leadership.
• Experience with donor-funded grants and reporting.
• Experience advising senior executives and cross-functional teams.
• Strong English communication and financial literacy for non-financial leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual organizational budgeting, forecasting and multi-year planning.
• Develop financial models and management reporting for CFO and leadership.
• Monitor monthly/quarterly performance with budget vs actuals and cash flow.
• Manage donor grant budgets, forecasting and reporting.
• Improve financial systems, dashboards, and data-driven decision making.
• Mentor and develop FP&A and Grants team; build cross-functional partnerships.
