Responsibilities

• Reviews requisitions and discusses specifications with stakeholders
• Confers with vendors to obtain product or service information, price, availability and delivery schedules
• Selects products for purchase by testing, observing or examining items
• Estimates values according to market knowledge
• Determines procurement method; prepares purchase orders or bid requests
• Negotiates contracts within budget and scope of authority
• Maintains procurement records of purchases, costs, delivery, quality, and inventories
• Coordinates with inspection/quality personnel to resolve defects
• May approve invoices for payment and expedite delivery when needed
