Job summary

OpenAI, Inc. is seeking a senior Strategic Finance business partner to work with the Workloads team to optimize model inference performance and compute economics.

You will partner with researchers and engineers to identify opportunities, measure outcomes, and translate technical improvements into financial impact. This role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid schedule (3 days in the office per week) and relocation assistance for new employees.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years in management consulting, strategy & operations, strategic finance, or a related analytical role.
• Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills.
• Executive presence to build credibility with researchers and engineers.
• Entrepreneurial mindset; able to drive initiatives end-to-end.
• Interest in AI research and compute economics.

Responsibilities

• Partner with inference researchers, Scaling, Product, and Data Science to identify optimization opportunities.
• Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve inference efficiency and track progress.
• Establish KPIs, dashboards, and frameworks to quantify performance and financial impact.
• Incorporate efficiency gains into long-term compute demand forecasts and investments.
