Job summary

American Electric Power in New Albany, OH is seeking a Financial Analyst Lead to prepare forecasts, perform variance analyses, and support strategic regulatory filings. You will lead a team of analysts and present insights to senior management and the Board of Directors.

The role requires 8+ years in energy/utilities, strong analytical judgment, and deep knowledge of regulatory economics and financial modeling. On-site position with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, mathematics, or related quantitative field is required.
• 8+ years of work experience in the energy and/or utility sector; familiarity with AEP accounting is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Initiate, formulate and develop assumptions for financial forecasts using corporate financial models.
• Perform monthly/quarterly variance reporting and analysis of budget vs. actual results.
• Develop and manage staff; mentor departmental analysts where applicable.
• Prepare and present reports to executive management and the Board of Directors.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement, cost savings and revenue enhancement.
• Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models including pro forma statements and scenario analyses.
• Improve financial analysis processes for greater automation, consistency, and accuracy.
• Apply utility finance and regulatory expertise including FERC formula rates and ratemaking.
