Job summary

OpenAI, Inc. is seeking a Strategic Finance partner to collaborate with Product and GTM leaders, incubate and launch new B2B products, and develop 0→1 financial foundations for scale.

You will evaluate new initiatives, shape commercial strategy, and build forecasts and revenue targets, partnering with multiple finance and product teams to drive profitability and growth. The role is based in San Francisco with relocation assistance offered.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in investment banking, consulting, or buy-side investing with operational experience.
• Direct ownership of strategic finance, product finance, commercial finance, pricing and monetization, or product P&Ls in a complex B2B business.
• Track record of cross-functional partnership across Product, GTM, Data Science and ability to influence senior leaders.
• Expert modeling skills, including building detailed product P&Ls and operating models.
• Ability to distill complex financial data into actionable insights and communicate with leadership.
• Excellent communication and storytelling using data; familiarity with OpenAI business models and contribution margin.

Responsibilities

• Support strategic initiatives and new product launches, including early opportunity sizing, pricing, packaging, and business development deal structuring to enhance profitability.
• Deep dive into frameworks to forecast, analyze, and optimize product contribution margins and lifetime value.
• Establish and manage key metrics for product revenue, gross margin, and leading indicators, and report on them for improvement.
• Stay updated on market trends and competitive dynamics to refine financial strategies.
• Create high-quality executive and Board-facing presentations.
• Collaborate with Accounting and FP&A to evolve forecasting and reporting processes.
