Job summary

Mulhaupts is seeking a Director of Finance to lead the accounting and finance function, ensuring GAAP-compliant reporting, close processes, cash management, and strong internal controls. The role partners with the fractional CFO and executives to improve management reporting, financial planning, and data-driven decision-making across projects, services, distribution, and recurring revenue.

Qualifications

• GAAP knowledge with strong financial reporting and close processes.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible accounting/finance experience.
• Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
• Experience in project-based, construction, distribution, or service environments with job costing or billing preferred.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or similar ERP.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly and year-end close and ensure GAAP-compliant financial statements.
• Maintain general ledger integrity with reconciliations and journal entries.
• Oversee AR, AP, billing, cash receipts, and payroll-related accounting.
• Manage cash flow, working capital, and banking relationships.
• Coordinate audits with external auditors and regulators.
• Lead annual budgeting and forecasting processes with leadership teams.
• Provide timely reporting on department performance, profitability, and trends.
• Identify opportunities to improve profitability, cash flow, and performance.
• Oversee ERP use and automate processes to strengthen data integrity and controls.
