CPM Educational Program Inc. is seeking a Controller, a full-time, exempt role reporting to the COO.

This working leadership position oversees CPM’s core financial operations, reporting, and compliance, helping steer the organization’s mission with sound fiscal management. Based in Sacramento, the Controller leads budgeting, close, audits, payroll, and internal controls, partners with the Executive Leadership Team, Board, and auditors, and supervises accounting staff to ensure accurate, timely

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, nonprofit setting ideal.
• Experience with mid-market ERP systems and GAAP.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll and sales tax.
• Ability to present financial information to board.

Responsibilities

• Oversee general ledger, A/P, A/R and monthly/year-end close.
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for leadership and board.
• Coordinate annual audit with CPA firms and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and reconciliations.
• Lead budgeting process and long-range forecasts.
• Develop internal controls and fiscal policies.
• Supervise payroll and state/local tax registrations.
• Partner with HR on benefits administration and retirement plan.
• Collaborate with executives on resource planning and investments.
