CFS is seeking a Director of Finance for a rapidly growing nonprofit. The role combines finance director and comptroller responsibilities, guiding financial policies, supervising staff of five, and developing new revenue streams.

The ideal candidate will have a CPA or MBA, 5–7 years in nonprofit accounting, and experience managing budgets and multiple funding contracts. This exempt, office-based role offers growth and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance; 5–7 years experience in a not-for-profit
• CPA or MBA is required
• Experience with budgets, multiple funding contracts, and vouchers for grants from the State of Illinois and the City of Chicago
• College credit hours for Intermediate Accounting II, Not-for-profit Accounting, and Audit
• Excellent management and team player skills
• Knowledge of not-for-profit accounting preferred

Responsabilités

• Develops and maintains systems and procedures for financial and accounting functions
• Prepares financial analysis, reports, statements, budgets and forecasts
• Arranges for outside audits
• Oversees purchasing, data processing and inventories
• Prepares materials for and works with the Finance Committee of Board of Directors
• Supervises finance and accounting staff (team of five)
• Oversees submission of budget proposals and reports
• Accounting of securities, building, operating expenses, payroll and other major financial operations
• Performs routine work following established procedures and accounting practices
• Coordinates and develops short and long-range financial plans with Executive Director and Board Finance Committee
• Monitors budget and advises Executive Director of income/expense variations
• Maintains current cash balances and assists in managing cash flow
• Responsible for accounts receivable/accounts payable
• Other duties as assigned
