Job summary

Office Environments of New England, LLC in Marlborough, MA is seeking a strategic Controller to lead core accounting operations, ensure GAAP/SOX compliance, and partner with leadership to drive business performance.

The role manages 4–6 staff across AP, payroll, billing, and analysis; responsibilities include month-end close, inventory costing, ERP initiatives, and providing actionable insights through data and BI tools such as Excel and Power BI.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required; CPA or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
• 6–10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility.
• Strong expertise in GAAP, SOX compliance, and cost accounting; inventory accounting experience is desirable.
• High attention to detail and accuracy; ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
• Proven track record leading an accounting function including AP, payroll, and general ledger operations.
• Advanced Excel skills; Power BI and data visualization experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversee core accounting functions, including the general ledger, accounts payable, payroll, month-end close, and financial reporting, with scalable scope.
• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial statements in compliance with US GAAP and SOX.
• Lead inventory costing, job costing, and revenue recognition practices; maintain GL integrity.
• Collaborate with leadership on ERP initiatives and digital transformation; liaison with parent company Steelcase.
• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close; partner with Senior Financial Analyst on revenue recognition.
• Identify process improvements; leverage data analytics to drive decision-making and efficiency.
• Manage a team of 4–6Direct reports across AP, Payroll, Billing, and Financial Analysis.
