Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Finance Director in the United States to lead accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, reporting, and audit preparation for the organization, coordinating with management and external auditors.

The ideal candidate has a CPA or BA in accounting, 5+ years of multi-funded agency experience, strong Excel and reporting software skills, and the ability to manage confidential information with integrity and professionalism.

Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant or BA degree in Accounting, Business, Fiscal Management, or related field.
• Five years' experience of analyzing accounts for a multi-funded Agency, computerized accounting systems, fund accounting preferred.
• Three years' experience with Excel, reporting software, and database systems.
• Strong computer skills, word processing, spreadsheets, email, and internet.
• Arizona's driver's license, proof of insurance, fingerprint card, and Social Security card, and provide a vehicle for program business.
• A Health Questionnaire is required at hire and will be updated every 3 years.
• Meet all agencies, state and federally required immunizations or have an approved exemption on file.
• Employee must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Plans, develops, and oversees implementation of Finance/Accounting department objectives and goals.
• Exercises supervision over assigned staff; gives input in hiring, suspending, recalling, and discharging employees; carries out performance evaluations per personnel policies.
• Organizes and assists in the preparation of agency-wide departmental budgets.
• Oversees project management on Fund Accounting software and assists with payroll software.
• Makes recommendations and implements accounting policies and procedures.
• Reconciles agency-wide funds; closes monthly financial reports.
• Responsible for ensuring fixed assets are recorded correctly.
• Responsible for month-end journal entries.
• Monitors expenditures; maintains computerized G/L accounts and financial formats.
• Monitors and maintains accurate accounting and payroll records.
• Maintains control of accounting activities and ensures financial integrity.
• Assists with planning for future programs and develops strategies for implementation.
• Evaluates services and reports federal compliance to CEO.
• Reports internal financial information to appropriate personnel.
• Stays current on rules and regulations regarding proper use of State and Federal Grant funds for Head Start.
• Maintains confidentiality of all financial, personnel, and agency information.
• Proficient in utilizing various virtual platforms to facilitate seamless communication and collaboration.
