Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an Assistant Director, Accounting in New York City to lead the finance team, oversee budgets, and manage contract accounting across programs. The role reports to the CFO and operates from our NYC office with two remote days per week.

You will supervise 5–6 accountants, refine monthly close processes, support audits, and ensure adherence to Uniform Guidance and other funding requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
• 7-10 years nonprofit accounting with contract billing.
• 2-3 years supervisory experience.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
• Experience with Passport and ACS Schedules.
• Experience with SSOP and Uniform Guidance audits.
• CPA desirable but not required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise 5–6 Accountant Supervisors and Contract Accountants.
• Review budgets, billings, and program financial statements.
• Coordinate annual budgets and modifications.
• Assist in audits and ACS schedules.
• Ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance.
