Job summary

The New School in New York City is seeking an experienced Manager of Faculty Affairs to support Lang/NSSR. You will oversee faculty reviews, hiring, visiting scholars, and key administrative processes, ensuring policy compliance and data integrity across multiple units.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with related professional experience.
  • At least three years’ work experience in educational administration.
  • Self-starter capable of managing multiple responsibilities in a complex work environment.
  • Ability to work successfully independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate well with diverse populations including faculty and staff throughout the University.
  • Excellent written, analytical, and communication skills with a high level of professionalism and discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Google docs.
  • Experience working with data and generating reports.
  • Master’s degree preferred; knowledge of Banner, Tableau, and Workday a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate confidential review processes for full-time faculty reappointment, tenure, promotion, and annual evaluation.
  • Organize records tracking upcoming reappointment and promotion reviews with the provost’s office.
  • Draft faculty contracts for review by deans and provosts and manage HR processes with faculty.
  • Direct Visiting Scholars program, including visa needs and paperwork.
  • Oversee visa requests, MOUs, and substitution payments; maintain faculty data and HR records.
  • Support orientations, workshops, and faculty development initiatives; maintain faculty packets.
