Job summary

Denver Public Schools is seeking a capable leader to manage facility design and construction projects under the District Bond program. You will oversee design teams, coordinate with contractors, and ensure on-schedule, on-budget delivery of safe, energy-efficient facilities.

This role requires experience in architecture/engineering and construction, plus strong leadership and stakeholder communication across operations, principals, and public relations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum three years of combined experience in architecture or engineering and construction projects.
  • Three years of management experience involving both administrative and technical duties.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
  • Commitment to equity and dismantling systems of oppression in the community.
  • Live and work with a permanent Colorado address.

Responsibilities

  • Manages teams on new school buildings, remodeling and repair projects, ensuring safety and adherence to District standards, schedule and budget.
  • Directs preparation of drawings and specifications for construction projects, communicating schedule and scope to stakeholders.
  • Coordinates with strategic sourcing to select architects, consultants, and contractors through bid processes.
  • Reviews design progress and contract documents for project intent and District standards.
  • Manages project costs, pay requests, and design/contractor schedules.
  • Participates in design and construction meetings to align user requirements with architects and resolve construction problems.
  • Maintains extensive internal communications with operations, principals, QA/QC, and public/community relations.
  • Handles internal paperwork and systems input to obtain project approvals from management.
  • Manages project closeout including warranties and thorough documentation.
  • Assists AHERA management plan development and hazmat program compliance.
