Upbring is seeking a Strategic Event Director to oversee the planning, execution, and success of the Upbring youth empowerment games, a transformative event designed to inspire, engage, and support children in our programs. Your Mission in Action

The Strategic Event Director is responsible for all aspects of planning, managing, coordinating, and execution of the Upbring youth empowerment games. In collaboration with the adjacent departments and programs leaders, the Strategic Event Director coordinates marketing and communication campaigns. The Strategic Event Director incorporates guidance of Upbring senior leadership to ensure key strategic objectives are accomplished.

This role is open to Texas residents statewide.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with our VP of Community Engagement to shape the vision for the Upbring youth empowerment games—assessing needs, setting goals, and making sure every initiative aligns with our mission to empower and uplift children.
  • Bring big ideas to life! Develop creative event concepts, designs, and strategies that not only make the Upbring youth empowerment games unforgettable but also showcase our commitment to child wellbeing and the impactful work happening across Upbring’s programs.
  • Turn vision into action. Build a seamless event plan covering everything from timelines and budgets to staffing, transportation, and venue logistics. Keep all the moving parts in sync, ensuring every detail is in place and every deadline is met for a flawless event experience.
  • Be the mastermind behind the event logistics. Coordinate every detail of the planning process from securing the perfect venue and negotiating with vendors to managing event registration ensuring a smooth and seamless experience for all participants.
  • Build a powerhouse of support. Identify and connect with key partners, sponsors, and collaborators to create a strong network that fuels the success of the event ensuring it provides meaningful experiences and resources tailored to the needs of the children participating.
  • Assemble an all-star team. Develop a staffing and volunteer plan that covers hiring, training, and managing event staff and volunteers making sure everyone is prepared, energized, and ready to create an unforgettable experience for the kids and community.
  • Keep the event running like clockwork. Oversee all logistics, from setup to tear-down, ensuring every detail is in place. Be the go-to problem solver, ready to tackle any challenges that arise so the event runs smoothly from start to finish.
  • Prioritize safety and compliance. Ensure every aspect of the event meets local, state, and federal safety and health regulations creating a secure and welcoming environment for all participants.
  • Measure impact and make it even better. Conduct post-event evaluations to assess success, gather feedback, and analyze the event’s impact on child wellbeing. Identify opportunities for improvement so each year is bigger, better, and more impactful than the last.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Special Education, Sports Management, Social Work, Public Relations, Hospitality Management or related field; and/or a combination of education and experience in lieu of degree.
  • Proven work experience as an Event Producer, Coordinator or similar role.
  • Able to provide a portfolio of previous work.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Child Development, Special Education, Sports Management, Social Work, Public Relations, Hospitality Management or related field; Project Management certification.
  • Three (3) years of event producing, coordinating experience.
  • Experience working with nonprofits or community organizations focused on child development.
  • Strong understanding of child psychology and wellbeing model.

  • This position may be required to travel up to 25%.

Physical Demands & Work Conditions

  • This position requires sitting and looking and using a computer for long periods of time.
  • Position may have exposure to children.
  • Position requires frequent standing, walking and time being mobile to coordinate events.
  • Lift, push, pull, move up to 50 lbs.
