Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Senior Employee Relations Partner to support non-investigative ER work, advising leaders on high-trust, high-impact people matters. The role focuses on conflict resolution, performance management, sensitive exits, and strategic workplace dynamics in a fast-growing environment.

You’ll work with HRBPs, Legal, and other teams to ensure aligned people decisions, safeguarding confidentiality and applying principled judgment in complex scenarios.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years in employee relations or related People role in fast-paced environments.
• Proven ability to handle high-tension, escalated employee situations with discretion and calm.
• Experience designing scalable ER solutions, tools, or programs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for sensitive conversations.

Responsibilities

• Advise and guide managers, HRBPs, and cross-functional partners through complex or high-risk employee situations, including performance management, conflict resolution, reorganizations, and difficult conversations.
• Shape the responsible adoption of AI-enabled tools within ER, maintaining confidentiality and meaningful human review.
• Build scalable tools and frameworks that strengthen ER support and reduce over-reliance on formal processes.
• Translate recurring ER challenges into scalable guidance, operating practices, and manager resources.
• Act as a sounding board and escalation partner for workplace culture concerns and early signals of broader people issues.
• Collaborate with HRBPs, Legal, and leadership to align on people decisions and policy implementation.
• Navigate ambiguity with a proactive, calm, and solutions-oriented mindset to move toward resolution.
