Job summary

Sun Life U.S. is seeking an Employee Relations Consultant to provide day-to-day coordination and support to the Employee Relations team. You will triage inquiries, document cases, and assist with absence management, accommodations, and employment practices.

You will partner with HRBPs, Legal, and leaders across the organization to deliver practical solutions that enhance employee experience while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and policies.

Qualifications

• BA or equivalent degree in HR or related field.
• 3–5 years progressive experience in HR, preferably in employee relations or equivalent.
• Excellent knowledge of U.S employment legislation, trends & practices.
• Excellent planning, organization and time management skills, attention to detail, ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a first point of contact for routine employee relations inquiries.
• Assist with routine Employee Relations matters as needed in support of Sr. ERC staff.
• Serve as the first point of contact for accommodations and complex leave matters.
• Document and track case activity; escalate matters timely and appropriately.
• Ensure all communications are well written, clear and professional.
• Understand legal and compliance legislation to support topics like absence management and accommodations.
• Balance business needs with employee concerns to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with Sr. ERCs, managers, HRBPs, Legal and Compliance for effective resolutions.
