Job summary

Novo Nordisk is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety leader for its Petersburg, Virginia site to manage EHS programs and personnel, aligning with NN Way and regulatory requirements. You will lead ISO14001 and ISO18001 systems, develop strategies, and drive continuous improvement across safety, environment, and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental sciences or related field with 8+ years in manufacturing.
• Associate’s degree with 10+ years in manufacturing and related fields.
• High school diploma with 12+ years in manufacturing.
• Minimum of five years of direct leadership experience.
• Proven knowledge of state, federal & local safety and environmental regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to translate technical documentation to non-technical audiences.
• Experience with project scheduling and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead the site ISO14001 Environmental Management system.
• Lead the ISO18001 OHSA Management system.
• Develop environmental and safety strategies, objectives and targets (e.g., C4Z).
• Monitor and report site performance in environment and safety.
• Ensure compliance with government EHS regulations and permits.
• Develop and lead multi-disciplined EHS team; drive accountability and results.
• Oversee EHS management including life safety and process safety.
• Adhere to milestones, budgets, and schedules; align with NN Way.
• Collaborate within NN to share best practices and improve processes.
• Continuous improvement using lean tools (cLEAN).
• Manage site emergency response including drills and inspections.
• Establish and maintain waste management per RCRA requirements.
• Follow all safety, financial and environmental requirements.
