Job summary

Howmet Aerospace seeks an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer for our Whitehall, MI facility. This role focuses on developing and sustaining robust EHS programs, driving continuous improvement, and coordinating with plant leadership to meet regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate brings a Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of manufacturing EHS experience, with strong data interpretation, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.
• 3 years of environmental experience in manufacturing or similar environment.
• Experience with supporting health and safety programs.
• Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a culture aligned with Howmet’s EHS goals and continuous improvements.
• Manage, direct, coach, lead and motivate plant personnel to achieve EHS goals safely.
• Assist in development and implementation of Environmental, Health and Safety programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Manage environmental issues, regulatory reports and permits across Air, Wastewater, Storm Water, Chemical, and Waste.
• Drive environmental stewardship through management systems to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Lead environmental permit review to maintain compliance and interface with regulators.
• Maintain records and documents as necessary.
• Evaluate production and equipment changes to sustain environmental requirements.
• Develop and deliver EHS compliance training.
• Lead cross-functional teams on environmental improvement projects with safety in mind.
• Evaluate processes to minimize waste and water use, supporting sustainability goals.
• Lead contractor management of wastewater treatment and discharge.
