Job summary

City of La Crosse seeks an Economic Development Coordinator in the Planning & Development Department to assist the Director with long- and short-range economic development and redevelopment efforts. The role covers business attraction, retention, workforce development, and urban revitalization within the city.

The position requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field and at least five years of related experience, plus proficiency in Microsoft Office and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field and five years of progressively responsible related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and administering long and short-range economic development and redevelopment functions.
• Develop and implement downtown master plans, neighborhood plans, and TIF project plans.
• Coordinate development programs, prepare funding applications, and liaise with city departments and external partners.
• Conduct market research, analyze economic opportunities, and prepare reports.
• Coordinate capital improvement projects, land inventory, and redevelopment initiatives.
