Job summary

The Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri is seeking a Development Manager for Mid-Level Giving to build and manage a mid-level giving program, focusing on recurring donors and gifts between $1,000 and $4,999, in collaboration with the Director of Individual Giving and the CDO.

The role involves managing a donor portfolio, soliciting gifts, documenting interactions in the donor database, and reporting on performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and education.
• Be a self-starter and internally motivated
• Have three to five years of fundraising and development experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Proficient in computer literacy; ability to quickly learn software and database programs.
• Have experience in public speaking.
• Have a valid driver’s license and insurance (and obtain a Class E license to drive our fleet vehicles within 90 days of employment).
• Be detail-oriented.
• Be capable of lifting 50 pounds regularly.
• Be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects.
• Be flexible and adaptable to change.
• Be able to work with a variety of people.
• The ideal candidate will be able to work well independently and strategically, and be able to collaborate within a team environment
• Be sensitive to the needs of low-income people

Responsibilities

• In partnership with the Director of Individual Giving and CDO, create and execute an individual mid-level giving program with an emphasis on increasing and retaining recurring donors and securing significantly more support at the levels of $1,000 - $4,999.
• Actively manage a portfolio of current and potential donors ($1,000 - $4,999), monthly donors, and passive major gift donors.
• Manage relationships and solicit gifts from mid-level donors, leading to increased financial support.
• Documentation and Reporting: Document interactions in donor database. Work with Donor Relations Manager to create a dashboard report of mid-level giving.
• Through research and best practices, identify, cultivate and solicit individuals for general operating support, rooted in The Food Bank’s case for support.
• Monitor and analyze portfolio performance to achieve annual goals.
• In conjunction with the Development team, prepare proposals, solicitation letters and stewardship reports.
• Collaborate with the Communication and Development team to thank and steward individual donors.
• Assist the team with developing budget, goals and performance measures for building the mid-level gift program and analyzing results.
• Perform other duties and participate in special projects as needed.
• Represent the department and The Food Bank to donors and the public through visits, written and phone communications.
