Job summary

Oxnard School District is seeking a Buyer to support procurement of goods, services and equipment for the district. The role involves bid development, vendor coordination, and processing purchase orders to ensure timely delivery for 245 work days per year.

Qualified candidates will have four years of purchasing experience (including at least one year in a lead role) and education in purchasing or related fields. A valid California driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience: Four years of responsible technical experience involving purchasing activities, including the coordination and buying of specific commodities, preferably with a public agency, including one year of lead responsibility.
• Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level course work in purchasing, accounting, business administration or a closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Purchase materials, supplies, equipment and services according to District policy and rules; research and develop sources of supply and specifications for goods and equipment used by the District.
• Receive vendor bids and proposals; open, compare and analyze quotations and bids and recommend the award of contracts.
• Prepare and administer product, service, and construction contracts.
• Coordinate purchase order activities; place and expedite orders; verify information related to price, product quality, service, and delivery.
