Job summary

Humana, Inc. is seeking a Director of Segment Quality Engineering to drive QE strategy across a defined portfolio in a healthcare technology setting.

You will lead quality engineering managers, promote automation-first practices, and advance AI-enabled QE to improve release readiness and production stability. You will collaborate with Product, Engineering, Architecture, Platform, DevOps, and enterprise partners to embed quality throughout the SDLC and improve delivery confidence.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
10+ years in software engineering, quality engineering, testing, or related technical disciplines.
5+ years leading quality engineering, test automation, or software delivery teams in large enterprise environments.
Experience leading quality engineering across multiple agile teams or a complex portfolio.
Proven track record modernizing QE with automation, tooling, processes, and metrics.
Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD practices.
Experience with API, UI, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.
Familiarity with distributed systems and modern architectures.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management; capable of leading geographically distributed teams.
Proven adoption of AI capabilities within Quality Engineering and using AI to improve QE effectiveness.

Responsibilities

Lead quality engineering strategy and execution across a defined portfolio.
Develop QE managers, leads, engineers, and SDETs; drive organizational design and growth.
Set portfolio quality goals, KPIs, and governance for release readiness and stability.
Embed built-in quality across planning, design, development, testing, and deployment.
Oversee test strategy across functional, integration, end-to-end, and release validation.
Manage portfolio-level quality risk including defects and environment issues.
Drive automation-first practices and integrate quality signals into CI/CD pipelines.
Promote AI-enabled QE practices to improve speed and coverage.
Sponsor modernization of QE tooling and test approaches for APIs and cloud-native platforms.
Oversee non-functional testing including performance and resiliency.
Use production metrics to drive continuous improvement and investment priorities.
Align with stakeholders on quality strategy, standards, and reference architecture.
