Job summary

Airgas is seeking a Director, Remote Operations Control Center in Independence, OH to lead ROCC strategy and daily operations, guiding safety, reliability, and profitability across remote plants. You will mentor managers, drive performance, and coordinate with AMG teams to optimize the end-to-end supply chain.

The role requires engineering expertise, extensive industry and air separation experience, and strong communication skills to interface with all organizational levels.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering strongly preferred; air separation experience acceptable in lieu.
• 10+ years industry experience; air separation experience required; 3+ years prior management experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot operational issues, manage large data to derive operational and margin insights, and build cost-benefit cases.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to interface across all organizational levels and build working alliances with internal customers.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, interpersonal networking, and facilitation capabilities.
• Ability to travel overnight up to 15%; valid driver's license and transportation for site visits; ability to visit diverse locations with varying environments.
• Ability to remain stationary and use computer/telephone to observe, assess, and manage data; strong ability to listen and exchange information across teams.

Responsibilities

• Direct and guide strategic direction and daily operations of the Remote Operations Control Center (ROCC), supporting site development and stewardship of industrial assets in safety, risk management, reliability, and customer satisfaction while maintaining profitability.
• Ensure adherence to safety standards; support process safety during remote moves; comply with quality standards (FDA, ISO, etc.).
• Strategic direction and mentorship: revise and implement ROCC strategic vision aligned with company objectives; act as change management champion transitioning from local to remote operations.
• Team coaching and development: mentor ROCC managers and individual contributors; ensure team readiness to support operations and startups.
• Operational oversight and performance enhancement: oversee all remote plants in ROCC, meet production targets; optimize cost-effective production; collaborate with AMG teams to enhance end-to-end supply chain; provide technical guidance for remote troubleshooting of AMG operations.
• Training and professional development: support training programs to enhance competency and safety; ensure ROCC procedures and protocols are in place.
