Job summary

Zions Bancorporation is seeking a Director of Payments and Commercial Technology to lead the technical vision, architecture, and delivery for our commercial banking and payments ecosystem. Based in our Midvale, UT location, you will report to the CTO and guide high‑throughput payment rails with a focus on security, resilience, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• 12 years of progressive technology experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (Director or above).
• Deep knowledge of US payment rails and protocols (ACH, Fedwire, CHIPS, RTP, FedNow) and ISO 20022 messaging.
• Commercial banking workflows including Treasury Management, liquidity management, lending origination/servicing, and digital portals.
• Proven track record in modern architecture: microservices, cloud-native, event streaming, and data modernization.
• Executive presence with ability to present roadmaps and risks to C-suite and regulators.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and execute the enterprise technology roadmap across Commercial Banking and Payments engines.
• Lead engineering delivery across design, vendor evaluation, and core integrations.
• Architect interfaces connecting commercial apps and payment hubs with resilience.
• Drive 24x7 operations, regulatory compliance, security, and incident management.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
