Job summary

City of Union seeks a Director of Utilities to direct and manage daily operations of the Electric, Gas, Water and Wastewater divisions. You will supervise staff, plan budgets, review contracts, and ensure regulatory compliance across multiple utility services.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering and at least seven years in public utilities, with leadership experience and strong project oversight capabilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering required; supplemented by seven years of progressively responsible experience in public utilities operations, maintenance and construction; lead or supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage daily operations of the Utilities Division (electric, natural gas, water distribution, wastewater); supervise staff and evaluate performance.
• Prepare annual budgets for electric, gas, water and wastewater; review contracts and regulate compliance with environmental and safety standards.
• Review engineering plans, specifications, and system studies; interact with regulatory agencies and prepare reports for City Council and others.
