Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required; master's degree preferred.
• At least 12 years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role overseeing a sizable team.
• Active CPA preferred; public accounting and corporate controllership experience desirable.
• Deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial statement prep, consolidations, internal controls, close management, and audit requirements.
• Experience leading a 10+ person accounting team in a multi-entity environment.
• Experience in engineering, construction, or project-based businesses; knowledge of project accounting and revenue recognition desirable.
• Advanced Excel and ERP system experience; Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint preferred; interest in AI-enabled tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with a disciplined close calendar and timely, accurate financial statements.
• Own consolidated financial reporting for multiple entities and divisions with management reporting and variance analysis.
• Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and schedules; resolve reconciling items promptly.
• Design, document, implement, and monitor strong internal controls and accounting policies.
• Oversee project accounting, revenue recognition, work-in-process, margins, and divisional results; partner with operations to improve reporting accuracy.
• Lead and develop the accounting department, allocate staff resources, drive process improvements and meet departmental objectives.
• Serve as primary contact for external audits; manage audit readiness and issue resolution.
• Partner with CFO on forecasts, cash flow, financial strategy, and system enhancements.
