Job summary

Legends Global oversees Huntington Place Detroit, seeking a Director of Capital Projects to lead planning, development, and delivery of major expansions and renovations within an active venue.

The role guides multi-year initiatives, aligns with guest experience goals, and ensures projects finish on time and budget while integrating with ongoing operations. Onsite leadership with executive-level collaboration is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, Engineering, or closely related field.
• Minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience managing construction, capital improvement, expansion, redevelopment, or infrastructure projects.
• Minimum of five (5) years of leadership experience managing project teams, consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience managing large-scale capital projects with significant budgets, complex schedules, and multiple stakeholders.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, project delivery systems, contract administration, procurement practices, budgeting, forecasting, scheduling, change management, permitting, quality assurance, and construction safety requirements.
• Experience coordinating construction activities within occupied facilities or active operational environments.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze issues, evaluate alternatives, manage risk, and make effective decisions in changing and time-sensitive environments.
• Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, LEED, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead capital planning and development for expansions, new construction, and major renovations.
• Provide strategic leadership with executive leadership and board stakeholders.
• Direct multiple complex capital projects through all phases from planning to closeout.
• Coordinate architects, engineers, and contractors; ensure schedules, budgets, and quality.
• Manage capital budgets, forecasts, expenditures, and cost-control measures.
• Develop procurement strategies and administer contracts and change orders.
• Engage with regulators, authorities, and stakeholders; report project status and risks.
• Oversee project documentation, controls, and commissioning to facility operations.
