Job summary

University of Missouri Academic Technology is seeking a Senior Director of Academic Technology (AT) and Design Services (DS) to provide bold, visionary leadership for our system-wide academic technology ecosystem and online design and media services for the Columbia campus.

This leader excels at building relationships with academic leaders and can translate vision into action—establishing governance, optimizing resources, and leveraging data to understand impact at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus 7+ years of related experience.
• Ability to translate vision into action with governance and resource optimization.
• Experience partnering with academic leadership and IT.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of a unified academic technology strategy across the UM system, aligning with teaching, learning, research, access, and student success.
• Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of learning management systems and digital learning platforms, promoting innovative AI-enabled teaching practices.
• Serve as a strategic partner to academic leadership, IT, libraries, accessibility services, and campus stakeholders to drive adoption of academic technologies.
• Lead the strategic vision, development, and implementation of online learning experiences and the design of online courses and programs.
