Job summary

Columbia University Libraries seeks a dynamic leader to serve as Director of Digital Library and Scholarly Technologies (DLST). The Director will lead vision and strategy for digital library services, scholarly technologies, and the Libraries' web presence, guiding a team of about 13 staff.

The role reports to the Associate Vice President for Technology and Preservation and collaborates with campus partners to advance digital collections, teaching, and research while pursuing external funding.

Qualifications

• MLS or advanced degree in a related field.
• Experience with library digital technology systems and services.
• Ability to plan and implement new end-user systems.
• Experience managing and developing staff.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 13 staff (3-4 direct reports) to advance digital library initiatives.
• Collaborate with Collections divisions to grow digital collections and services.
• Oversee digitization, preservation, born-digital and archival technologies and processes.
• Plan and implement AI-based scholarly communications solutions and services.
• Coordinate with Digital Project Management, Library Information Technology, Preservation, Digital Scholarship, and other units.
• Pursue external funding to support digital libraries and scholarly technologies.
• Represent the Libraries on campus, regional and national discussions of digital library development.
