Job summary

Jewish Long Beach is seeking a Senior Director of Development to lead and expand the philanthropic vision. You will work closely with the CEO to cultivate major gifts, shape donor strategy, and build a culture of philanthropy across the region.

The role oversees all fundraising activities, guides messaging, and leads a team of philanthropy professionals, with a focus on sustainable, community-focused giving.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support Jewish Long Beach and its Foundation.
• Oversee all fundraising activities: major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, events.
• Ensure fundraising complies with ethical and legal standards and policies.
• Collaborate with marketing and senior leadership on messaging and materials.
• Lead and mentor a team of philanthropy professionals.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with major donors, foundations, corporations, and partners.
• Identify funding priorities with leadership and program directors; develop cases for support.
• Provide regular updates and reports to leadership, the Board, and committees.
• Foster a culture of philanthropy among staff, volunteers, and board.
• Represent Jewish Long Beach in the community as an ambassador.
• Stay current on trends and best practices in philanthropy and fundraising.
• Act as liaison between donors and Jewish Long Beach to recognize and steward contributions.
• Collaborate across departments to promote a cohesive fundraising approach.
• Monitor and analyze fundraising data to measure progress and guide strategy.
• Lead Foundation efforts to fulfill development goals, with emphasis on annual targets.
• Cultivate, solicit, and steward donors across JLB initiatives with high-touch engagement.
• Manage Foundation granting, scholarships, and legacy giving including proposals and reporting.
