Job summary

Row New York seeks a strategic Director of Development & Communications to lead fundraising, major donor relations, and external communications. The role reports to the CEO and drives revenue growth, partnerships, and a high‑performing Development & Communications team.

The position combines remote work with in‑person meetings in NYC, requiring local residency in the NYC metro area. The director will manage a portfolio of high‑capacity donors, craft proposals, and oversee fundraising operations

Qualifications

8–10+ years of progressive fundraising experience.
Proven success securing 6-figure+ gifts and institutional funding.
Experience managing multiple direct reports and building high-performing teams.
Strong strategic planning, project management, and communication skills.
Experience with donor database software, preferably Salesforce.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

Lead fundraising strategy and revenue growth across individual and institutional giving.
Direct major donor and institutional fundraising, with CEO/board engagement.
Build and oversee moves management and donor communications.
Lead Development & Communications team; coach and set goals.
Shape external messaging and storytelling to support fundraising.
Prepare board dashboards and fundraising updates.
