Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey seeks a Deputy Director for Priority Capital Construction Programs within the Tunnels, Bridges and Terminals (TB&T) Department. Lead the executive team, oversee a substantial capital budget, and drive progress on mega-projects such as Restore the George, Outerbridge Crossing rehabilitation, Lincoln Tunnel Helix, and Bus Terminal replacement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Management, Technology, Operations Management or related field from an accredited college or university.
• 10 - 15 years of progressively responsible experience at an executive level capacity in a large public transportation organization.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
• At least 15 years of progressively responsible operations, planning, security, project management, customer service, performance management, life cycle asset management and infrastructure maintenance experience in a complex transportation environment.
• At least 5 years of progressive responsibilities managing and directing the delivery of a broad capital and operating program portfolio, measuring and improving implementation, policy changes, and performance measures.
• Extensive knowledge of the bridge, tunnel and highway transportation industry and familiarity with fare and toll collection systems.
• Demonstrated senior level experience in managing, leading and developing a large diverse technical and operational staff, with a proven record of building teams.
• Superior interpersonal skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated experience in a complex, political organization.
• Ability to achieve broad business goals and understand stakeholder impact.

Responsibilities

• Advancing TB&T’s Priority Capital Construction Programs and coordinating with stakeholders to advance critical projects.
• Represent the Director in all matters related to TB&T when the Director is out of the office.
• Oversee and provide direction to the leaders within the Department managing the Priority Capital Construction Projects portfolio.
• Provide oversight and guidance on inter-departmental initiatives affecting operations, maintenance, security, budgets and customer service.
• Support strategic planning, policy agenda and department performance initiatives.
