Job summary

FIS seeks a senior Data & Tech Product Counsel to partner with product teams on data, AI and technology initiatives. The role embeds with product and risk teams from ideation to launch, guiding governance, data rights and compliant product design.

The ideal candidate has deep regulatory experience across data privacy, AI governance, technology contracts and enterprise software in a financial services context.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active U.S. bar membership.
• 9+ years of relevant legal experience advising on technology, data, SaaS, platform or fintech products.
• Experience serving as a product-facing legal owner across development, privacy, security and IP.
• Strong technical fluency to read architecture diagrams and evaluate legal implications.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary legal resource for assigned data and tech products with a broad regulatory scope.
• Embed with product, data strategy, sales and compliance from ideation through launch and sunset.
• Advise on data flows, hosting changes, AI features and design decisions with legal impact.
• Support governance for data products including data usage determinations and approvals.
• Identify legal issues in governance, monetization, third-party data and AI governance.
• Partner with Privacy and Data Protection Office when handling personal data.
• Maintain client-facing privacy, security and AI positions aligned with governance.
• Build roadmaps tied to product milestones and define launch-ready legal artifacts.
• Own contract templates, solution terms, pricing attachments and product documentation.
• Support RFPs, negotiations and deal guidance on data, technology, privacy and AI issues.
• Develop fallback negotiation positions and training materials for sales and legal teams.
• Coordinate with compliance, IP, litigation and vendor risk teams as needed.
• Advise on disputes and drive process improvements for efficient legal support.
