Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC is seeking an experienced Data Scientist in New York to lead long-term planning and forecasting initiatives. You will build causal models and explainability tools, translating forecasts into actionable business insights for operations, stores, and finance.

You will drive multi-year roadmaps, work with stakeholders from VP to analyst levels, and develop an automated narrative capability to summarize variance and performance across marketplaces.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of data scientist experience.
• 3+ years of SQL or scripting language experience.
• 3+ years of ML/statistical modeling experience.
• 1+ years of guiding and coaching a group of researchers.
• 1+ years of working with or evaluating AI systems.
• 1+ years of creating or contributing to educational content.
• Master's degree in STEM or equivalent experience.
• Experience applying theoretical models in an applied environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop causal inference models and explainability frameworks to translate forecasts into insights.
• Explain drivers of forecast error and demand shifts to leadership.
• Build variance decomposition models for revenue, pricing, units, and inventory across multiple granularities.
• Maintain a causal model library with validation pipelines across marketplaces.
• Develop GenAI-powered narrative generation for performance summaries and hypothesis ranking.
