Job summary

Methode Electronics Inc. is seeking a Cost Estimator in Rolling Meadows, IL to develop detailed cost estimates from RFQs, drawings, BOMs, and specs.

You will prepare formal quote packages with pricing breakdowns and assumptions, and analyze costs to hit margin targets. You will collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to identify cost-saving opportunities, work with Purchasing for supplier pricing, and maintain historical data for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Business, or related field.
• 3+ years cost estimating, quote prep, or pricing analysis.
• Experience with 2D/3D development tools (SolidWorks) helpful.
• Exposure to APQP, PPAP automotive quality processes.
• Knowledge of costing software such as aPriori or Costimator.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed cost estimates from RFQs, drawings, BOMs and specifications.
• Prepare formal quote packages with pricing breakdowns and assumptions.
• Analyze materials, labor, tooling, overhead and logistics costs for total project cost and margin targets.
• Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineering to identify cost-saving and manufacturability improvements.
• Work with Purchasing to obtain up-to-date supplier pricing for materials and outsourced services.
• Track and maintain historical cost data and quoting templates for continuous improvement.
• Participate in design reviews and costing meetings to align estimations with feasibility.
• Support change management by evaluating cost impact of engineering changes or updates.
• Ensure all quotes comply with pricing strategies, customer requirements, and profitability goals.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive pricing and cost information.
