Job summary

General Atomics is seeking a Cost Estimating Manager to join the Cost Engineering team at our Rancho Bernardo facility. This working manager role will oversee cost estimating for proposals and contracts, drive policy compliance, and lead the adoption of best-in-class estimating tools.

Ideal candidates have 11+ years in cost estimating, 5+ years in management, and strong FAR knowledge, with experience in government and commercial settings.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree in business administration, industrial/cost engineering, or related discipline.
• Eleven+ years cost estimating experience, preferably with a defense contractor.
• At least five years in management.
• Extensive understanding of cost estimating concepts, FAR and related regulations.
• Experience leading a team of cost estimators on projects.
• Proficiency with SAP and Deltek ProPricer preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides guidance to senior management on cost estimating issues for proposals and contracts.
• Leads cost estimating activities for contract changes and estimates; reviews staff work.
• Represents the company in negotiations and government audits for cost estimates.
• Develops reports and presentations to secure management approval of cost estimates.
• Ensures cost estimating policies comply with laws and company objectives.
• Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information and supports classified programs.
