Job summary

Quality Engineering & Surveying, LLC seeks a Controller to oversee all accounting operations, budgeting, and financial reporting while guiding the company’s financial strategy across engineering, surveying, program management, and landscape architecture services.

The role partners with the executive team to strengthen internal controls, ensure GAAP compliance, manage audits, and drive sustainable growth while mentoring staff and implementing system improvements to support client success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business administration.
• CPA or CMA certification strongly preferred.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3–5 years in a controller role.
• Experience in AEC or professional services is desirable.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting and compliance.
• Proficiency with accounting software (Deltek Ajera) and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations: GL, AP, AR, payroll and job costing.
• Prepare accurate financial statements, reports and forecasts for leadership.
• Develop and monitor budgets, cash flow projections and metrics.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate external audits and tax filings with authorities.
• Provide financial analysis to support strategic decisions and project profitability.
• Collaborate with project managers to monitor budgets and billing.
• Supervise accounting staff and promote process improvements.
• Evaluate and implement accounting systems and processes.
