Job summary

Miller Feinbaum Recruiting is assisting a Knoxville-based distribution company in identifying an experienced Controller to lead day-to-day accounting and drive strategic financial planning. Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with full cycle responsibility (AP, AR, GL, close).
• Experience preparing financial statements, budgets, and forecasts in a small-to-mid-size business.
• Working knowledge of multi-state sales tax compliance.
• ERP experience; familiarity with DDI or Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
• Prior supervisory experience managing at least one direct report.

Responsibilities

• Manage full-cycle accounting: AP, AR, GL, bank reconciliations.
• Own month-end and year-end close; ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Prepare monthly financial statements, variance analyses, and management reporting packages.
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and ad hoc analyses with leadership.
• Monitor working capital and cash flow; oversee collections and vendor payments.
• Oversee multi-state sales tax compliance and liaise with external tax advisors.
• Support transition from QuickBooks Enterprise to Microsoft Dynamics.
• Supervise and develop accounting staff; ensure workload coverage.
• Support external audit and tax preparation with schedules and documentation.
• Assist with onboarding acquired businesses onto standardized processes.
