Job summary

Alliance Resource Group’s client, a rapidly growing mid-sized toy and collectible distributor, is seeking a Controller to own the finance function and lead accounting operations. Reporting to the CFO, this newly created leadership position offers significant responsibility and impact as the company expands internationally.

You will oversee month-end close, financial reporting, cash flow, inventory valuation, tax compliance, and internal controls across multiple entities.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in progressive accounting roles, preferably in distribution, wholesale, or consumer goods.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA or CMA a plus but not required.
• GAAP knowledge, foreign currency transactions, inventory accounting, and modern financial systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end close and financial reporting for multi-entity global consolidations.
• Manage cash flow, inventory valuation, audit prep, and tax compliance domestically and abroad.
• Scale ERP processes and establish robust internal controls to support international distribution.
• Lead and mentor a small accounting team.

Reporting directly to the CFO, you will lead day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance while the CFO focuses on international business development abroad.

Key Responsibilities

• Financial Oversight: Lead month-end close, financial statement preparation, and multi-entity global consolidations.
• Operational Accounting: Manage cash flow, inventory valuation, audit preparation, and domestic and foreign tax compliance.
• Process Scaling: Optimize ERP workflows and establish robust internal controls to support international distribution.
• Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and build a small but growing high-performing accounting team.

Qualifications

• Experience: 7+ years in progressive accounting roles, preferably in distribution, wholesale, or consumer goods.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; active CPA or CMA a plus but not required.
• Skills: Proven expertise in GAAP, foreign currency transactions, inventory accounting, and modern financial systems.
