Job summary

Capstone, a Capstone education company based in Minnesota, seeks a Director of Contracts to lead contracts, compliance, and IP processes in a growth-focused setting. The role collaborates with sales, marketing, digital product, and finance to align contracts with business goals while managing risk.

The position is hybrid, based in Mankato or Eden Prairie, MN, with two days in the office and up to three remote days weekly. A strong background in contracts and compliance is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, legal studies, paralegal studies, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 6+ years of experience in contracts, compliance, and/or data privacy.
• Experience leading and developing teams.
• Experience in publishing, K-12 education, or EdTech preferred.
• Strong knowledge of contract law, IP, and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including virtual communication.
• High attention to detail with strong organizational and project management capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and Excel; experience with contract lifecycle management tools is a plus.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead contracts and compliance with strategic direction.
• Develop and lead a high-performing team.
• Partner with sales, marketing, product, content, finance, and leadership.
• Oversee negotiation, review of documents, and IP/trademark processes.
• Manage contract templates, playbooks, and workflows.
• Oversee departmental budget and external legal spend.
