Job summary

Triton Construction Company seeks a Purchasing Agent in New York to procure subcontractor trade packages and materials from bid solicitation through award. You will support budgets and schedules by securing competitive pricing, defining scopes of work, and maintaining purchasing documentation.

You will partner with the Purchasing Manager, Estimating, Field staff, and Contracts/Insurance to align purchasing with project requirements, constructability, and timelines.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business or related field.
• Experience in construction purchasing, estimating, or subcontractor procurement.
• Experience on NYC construction projects and interpreting drawings/specs.
• Ability to read trade scopes, proposals, and budgets.
• Knowledge of bid packages, leveling proposals, and scope gaps.
• Familiarity with trade coordination, insurance, and contract processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing and buy-out of assigned trade packages under the Purchasing Manager.
• Review drawings and specs to prepare bid packages and scope sheets.
• Solicit competitive proposals from qualified subcontractors and vendors.
• Coordinate bid questions and scope clarifications with project team.
• Prepare bid-leveling comparisons showing pricing differences and scope changes.
• Negotiate pricing, scope, terms, and schedule commitments.
• Prepare award recommendations and supporting documentation.
• Maintain organized purchasing records and correspondence.
