Job summary

H&B Engineered Products and John F. Scanlan, part of the ICT family, seek an experienced Credit & Collections Specialist based in Beltsville, MD. You will manage credit risk, monitor accounts receivable, and drive collection efforts while maintaining strong customer relationships across the Mid-Atlantic.

The role requires construction industry experience, lien and bond knowledge, and collaboration with Accounting, Sales, and Operations to protect financial interests.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of credit and collections experience in construction, HVAC, mechanical contracting, building products or related industries.
• Experience managing commercial or construction-related accounts receivable and collections.
• Knowledge of mechanic's liens, bond claims, lien waivers, and construction credit requirements.
• Experience reviewing customer creditworthiness and recommending credit limits and payment terms.
• Strong AR aging, credit risk, and bad debt management.
• Proficiency with Excel and ERP/accounting systems.
• High school diploma or equivalent; accounting/finance degrees preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage credit and collection activities for H&B Engineered Products and John F. Scanlan.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and contact customers about past-due balances.
• Develop collection priorities based on aging, exposure, history, and risk.
• Document collection activity and follow up on commitments and payment dates.
• Review new/existing customers for creditworthiness and set terms.
• Obtain and review credit applications and references.
• Monitor credit limits and place holds when appropriate.
• Negotiate payment arrangements and escalate delinquent accounts.
